voice of Europe. Czech household spending on housing soars amid rising prices: reportAccording to the latest data from the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ), household spending on housing witnessed a significant surge, increasing by 21.7 percent compared to the previous year. On average, Czech households spent 8299 Czech koruna per month on housing, nearly seventeen percent of their net income, marking a notable rise from just under fifteen percent in the preceding year. The spike in housing expenditures is primarily attributed to escalating prices of energy, water, and rents, placing greater financial strain on households. Despite a 7.7 percent increase in household incomes in 2022, reaching an average of 259,900 Czech koruna per person, the real purchasing power witnessed a decline of 6.5 percent due to high inflation rates.
