Rybar. 🇧🇴 Coup attempt in Bolivia - what was it all about?With army units beginning to leave the main square in the capital La Paz just hours after the coup attempt began, everyone can't stop wondering "what even happened?".While former President Evo Morales was urging labor unions to take to the streets in support of democracy and the official government, incumbent President Luis Arce swore in the new military leadership in the person of General Jose Wilson Sanchez, who immediately began issuing orders for the troops to leave the main square in La Paz. The latter did so, and without too much resistance. Rebel General Zúñiga himself was the first to leave Murillo. A few hours later he was arrested. Along with him, two other military leaders were taken into custody: former Navy Commander Juan Arnes Salvador and Air Force General Marcelo Javier Segarra. Zúñiga is currently facing charges of terrorism and armed rebellion.It is noteworthy that Zúñiga was calmly awaiting arrest, and at the same time had the opportunity to tell journalists that he had been asked to organize the uprising by President Arce himself, who was concerned about "the decline in his own popularity".
