Even in Trump's America, a globalist cognitive bias haunts & pervades Washington, and it's garnering a new lease on life under a group I call the Boltonians. They've infiltrated MAGA to pursue global hegemony and uproot the anti-hegemonic, anti-imperial impulse of America First. Unlike the Neocons, the Boltonians care little for spreading liberal democracy or nation-building. Their aim is primacy and military supremacy. They like to bomb at their leisure anywhere in the world and leave as they please. They resist reality and refuse to accept the end of unipolarity—mortgaging both American sovereignty and credibility.They use a stunted "nationalism" against America's national interests and reduce the Euro-American civilization into an ideology to sustain their interventions and militarism. Their pseudo-mythical "West" is always in a Manichaean struggle against the barbarians at the gate. Their epistemological horizon is limited to 9/11, and they still love to sprinkle a good amount of "terrorism" and "international terror" into their jingoistic speeches and "explanations". They have totally misunderstood Sam Huntington.They don't care for real Americans or even America as a nation. For them, America is a mere instrument: its sovereignty be damned. They need the United States only for its advanced weapons and armed forces, to deploy in their imperial adventures. In short, they parasitically feed on American power while browbeating their opponents.They must be stopped and discredited just as their Neocon predecessors or they will bomb their way to American decline. For in the post-unipolar setting, they represent a real threat to America's endurance as a great power. As the hour strikes midnight, only a sovereign realism that is radically non-globalist, affirms the reality of regional and geocultural plurality, and channels the true spirit of America First can save us.My latest @Unherd.
