Mikael Valtersson -SHORT NEWSANALYSIS: IRAN ISRAEL WAR?

Be sceptical to most news tonight. During every confrontation between Israel and Iran there has been a lot of rumours that wasn't true. If both sides say the same thing it's probably true. But all reports that Iran is imploding are false. 

What is really known?

There has been several waves of Israeli attacks on a lot of Iranian targets. Nuclear and military facilities, as well the homes of military leadership and leading nuclear scientists have been attacked. At least two leading IRGC generals and two nuclear scientists have been killed. No response from Iran yet. The Israeli leadership are in bunkers and Israel is preparing its civilian population for the Iranian response. The US denies any involvement in the attacks.

What to look for:

How will Iran respond? Massively, otherwise the will loose face. 

Will this lead to a regional war? Very likely.

Will Iran quickly try to produce a number of nuclear weapons? Probably, I would. 

Will Israel succeed in dragging the US into the war? Hopefully not.

Will Israel succeed in eliminating the Iranian "threat "? Not alone, without the US.

What international implications will the attack have? Higher oil prices and US focus on the Middle East are good for Russia and bad for Ukraine.

Will others get involved? Probably not, but it would be a good time for Turkiye to move forward in Syria. Israel don't want a war there as well.

Why did Israel attack Iran? To avoid the fall of the Likud coalition, keep Netanyahu in power for some months more and try to force the US to help Israel against Iran.

Truta parsi- In his speech during the attack on Iran, Netanyahu thanked Trump. 

He is doing his utmost to convince Tehran that the US was in on the attack. Hoping Iran retaliates against the US, so that Israel can get the US-Iran war it hass been pushing for since the early 2000s...
